Another perfect score week.
I’m back from my wedding & honeymoon and my life hasn’t practically changed much, but technically it’s changed quite a bit, so it felt apt to pick three of my favorite books about women making big life changes (although in each of their cases, it was due to a long term relationship ending).
Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez. A wealthy doctor from a well-known family of medical “royalty” whose long-term relationship has just ended falls for a younger man from a tiny town about two hours from her. They have seemingly nothing in common in their pasts or their presents, but their future? Only if they’re brave enough to take a risk and make a change. (there’s a point in this book’s Dark Night Of The Soul section that made me physically walk away it was so emotionally devastating. I was hollering every 50 pages or so to my now-husband as I read. I love pain)

Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes. Evvie Drake’s car is half-packed to leave her husband while he’s at work when she gets the call- he’s been in an accident and isn’t going to make it. A year later, dealing with an uncomfortable combination of guilt and grief because no one in her life knows she was planning to leave him, she supplements her newly single income by taking on a lodger- professional baseball player Dean whose sudden onslaught of the yips forced him into early retirement. A love story about regrets, grief, unexpected major life changes, and ambition.

Plus-sized queer lady protagonist, adventure/travel, heartwarming twists and turns for a well earned happily ever after.
