Malicious compliance is such a great trope and I haven't thought of it that way before. I don't have any books that come to mind for it but it does feel like something that's more common in historical
Definitely more characters are forced into really specific boxes in historical, which makes malicious compliance often the only power they have to object, but I’d love to see it more in contemporary and paranormal! Too many men out here getting away with nonsense and the heroines are like “but he’s hot so I’ll allow it.” No! Torture him with his own “preferences” until he realizes he likes you because you’re the exact opposite! Drive him to madness!
I guess Aydra Richards must like that trope of a protagonist raising siblings, because she did it again in His Reluctant Lady, which was great, first one by her that I've read.
